The Sprouting Garden of the New Year's Dawn

Hope and faith flower from the cheerful seeds of the old year to the sprouting garden of the new year's dawn.
~Terri Guillemets

Isn't this a lovely quote?  Picturing these words stirred in me an excitement for this new year.  I am not one for resolutions. I like to think of them more as goals.  Goals sound so encouraging. Resolutions sound so stifling to me.

My Goals for 2018

a closer walk with God

a healthier me

a better organized day, week, life, house

embracing creativity

Have you made any goals or resolutions for the New Year?

  1. Gina, I like setting goals more than resolutions as well. I set them all year long. I don't fret if they are not accomplished! There is always another year, God willing. :) So glad you are back sweet friend!

    1. Jann, I just could not stay away! This year, I decided to not be too hard on myself if it takes a little longer to accomplish my goals.

  2. I got back to walking today and I hope to get back to healthy eating as well. I got a new devotional book that should help me to be consistent in my devotional life.

    1. Arlene, I'd love to hear more about your devotional book. Today, I wrote about the study that I am starting. It's way to cold her to walk outside. Stay warm!

  3. Hi Gina~

I love your goals, especially...embracing creativity! I think we all need to be more creative! I have been battling some kind of awful bug, and my creativity is broken for the moment, but just wait til I'm better!! I'm pretty sure that sugar and stress was the culprit... healthier me is right up there on my list as well. I love the quote, makes me a little anxious for Spring...and warmth.

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Barb, I hope you feel better soon! I too am trying to detox from sugar (at least so much sugar). I hope that we will enjoy an early spring. It is cold!

  4. I am not one to make new year resolutions, as they seem to peter out much too soon, though setting goals is always a good thing. A closer walk with God is always a daily desire. I have decided this year to be more active and arise very early and start the day enjoying a walk through the countryside, where there is just me, Maisie and my Heavenly Father. This is a lovely quote, Gina. May you have a beautiful new year, lovely lady.

    1. Kim, wonderful idea to take a walk though the countryside! I hope to start walking again once the weather warms up. Lilah Rose is still learning to walk on a leash so I think it won't be quite a stroll at first.

    1. Kitty, thank you. My husband took this glam shot of me. He didn't photoshop it at all but had a nice background and special lights. I'm debating whether or not to grow out my hairstyle.

  7. I want to live the life God wants me to live first and foremost.
I also need to take care of this body God has given me, and to do that I need to exercise at least 5 days a week.

    1. Connie, wow 5 days a week is more than I can take at first anyway. Good for you! ♥

  8. I'm so glad you are going to keep this blog going and the comments open! How else will you know how much we love what you share! I'm going to start taking vitamins this year. I need to do some research and see which ones to take. Being healthy is key when you get older. Sweet hugs and Happy New year!

    1. Terri, I think I usually have creativity down on my priority list lower than housework and that needs to change!

But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one’s deepest as well as one’s most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life, 1859
